Mock up

This quick template is my own mock-up as to what will appear on the digipak, and where it will be featured on each individual section of the CD cover. The disc is shown in the top middle, featuring where a majority of the track listing and details will be placed underneath on the panel below. This is an easy guide for me to follow as I create the digipak, and begin to place the images onto the template to resemble a final product.

Photoshop Experiments with Leah

In this step I picked out the scanned in image of the model Leah, and then dragged the image across into Photoshop CS6. Crop the background down to fit the image to make sure there isn't any overlap, keeping the image nice and neat.

From cropping the image move the mouse up to the options at the top of the Photoshop file and select 'Filter'. From there move down to the option 'Filter Gallery'. This opening up the image showing all the options in the filter gallery, showing folders which feature options related to the folder name. Some examples of the photos being Artistic, Brush Strokes, Stylize, Distort, and Texture. From there, selecting options change the way your image originally looked, examples of this are featured in the three different images of Leah. These effects featuring under the 'Sketch' section, the selections being Charcoal, Chrome and Stamp. The effects used on Leah are monotone yet show emotion, and can also be used for the front of the digipak and also CD's. These effects are rough and match the on-running theme of the rock/grunge theme which is demonstrated in the rock and metal music genre.

Album Advertisement Analysis

An analysis of three album advertisements which were featured in Kerrang! and other music magazines, which is another way for the advertisement to apply to fans, as featuring in those magazines would apply to the right fan base for the bands.

Photoshop Experiments

These three images were taken and edited on Photoshop using the pinlight effect, causing them to go dark and change the colour scheme by several shades. This giving the model Emily a darker appearance, and also a dirtied effect, which can relate to the trapped meaning within the song and also relates back to the heavy metal/rock theme.

Band Name Mindmap

Above is an image of a mind map which was
created to generate some band names for the music video/digipak/advertising project, my top three favourite names on the image being The Outcasts, Benassi, and also Unspoken. These three names have been experimented with in different fonts to help pick out the favourites, as well as think of the perfect font style for the band name.

Out of the three experiments, I much prefer the band name Unspoken, my favourites out of the four fonts being the top and also the bottom ones. Which means further experimentation with these two types will be needed, possibly against a photo background.

Scanned Photography

As well as the previous images featuring the models taped up and also covered in string, another idea was to scan in some images of faces also showing how the model is trapped in a dark place, once again relating back to the song 'All I Want', with some tweaks on Photoshop these photographs could become effective when it comes to the digipak.

Digipak Photography

One of my ideas for the photo's which will feature on the digipak consists of several people with their faces tied up in both string and also sellotape. This referencing back to the name of the song 'All I Want', which can be taken in context as a way of feeling trapped and wanting to escape. The use of the sellotape and string can show how the models used in the photos are trapped, and want to break free.
