Final Draft

This is the final music video draft, to complete this draft I added black and white effects to the instrumental scenes, as well as the scene where Chris (the main singer) is singing. This adding a great effect to the video, as well as adding a few film transitions which makes the switching of the scenes more fluent and easier to watch instead of too many of the edits being straight cuts. I am happy with my final draft, as it has turned out exactly how I wanted it to.

Poster for the Ancillary Texts

This is the poster advertisement for the new single created by the band 'Unspoken' which will accompany my DigiPak which belongs to the single.

DigiPak

This is my finished DigiPak set into it's template, it features a CD and a DVD off the music video which I have made. As it is a single, there is no track list on the back of the DigiPak, there is only the band nme and the name of the song which then features a flare to make the back of the cover more interesting to look at. The front cover is simple, yet effective on the audience, the red being a vibrant colour which attracts attention. Next to the two discs there is also a set of lyrics for the song, that way the fans can learn the new song word for word.

Album Discs

Here we have both disc 1 and disc 2 for my DigiPak, I like the way the discs have turned out as they look authentic and professional. For the second disc, I used the scanned in images of Leah four times to create the pattern behind all the type, which in a way resembles hearts, which can connote back to the song and how the guy only wants to be loved in some way or another. As well as this, I have added changes to the first disc, this being extending the copyright phrase around the bottom of the disc as well as making it match the same place in the second disc. Adding a professional aspect to the discs, as well as adding the album name and labeling the discs to resemble them back to real authentic discs.

Cast List

This is the list of the people who will be appearing in my music video (not in order of appearance). Chris Wilson being the main singer in the video, as well as doing the lead guitar. Ford Walton being another singer, as well as the rhythm guitarist, the other four (Hannah, Jenny, Molly and Thomas) being the other singers in the video which appear in a variety of locations, Jenny and Hannah featuring against a white wall, yet they're wearing different oufits which creates a diversity with the fan base, and also the meaning behind the song of everyone coming together as a unity. Molly is filmed on a green screen, which I left green not because I ran out of time, but because I like the effect it has and the diversity it gives to my music video, the same applying to Thomas against the brick wall. The two main singers Chris and Ford appear in two different locations, Chris featuring in the green screen room singing/playing guitar, as well as singing against a small brick wall. Ford being filmed in a garden scene whilst singing, as well as in the green screen whilst playing the guitar.

Draft 2

This is the second draft of my media music video, it has officially filled the full length of the song with footage. Which is one of the things I promised to do on my last draft, as there was random black spaces lacking footage. Since then I have gained all the footage I need for my music video, and then some - leaving me with plenty spare to mess around with in case more is needed. I have no also learnt how to use the chroma key effect, this meaning I can alter out the green screen and place a background behind the people singing.

Draft 1

This is the first draft of my music video, as it's the first draft then it is going to be quite bad in comparison to what the final music video will be like. At the moment, there are a lot of shots which still need to be added to the video, as well as the beginning few seconds of the video are still a black screen. This is going to change as of Tuesday 8th April, as I am filming two guitarists tonight which will be featured in the beginning instrumental of the video, as well as more shots of the two boys which feature in the video singing - this relating back to the male actually singing the video. As well as this, I am featuring a third male singer today as well, adding more shots to make the video more complex and interesting. The shots where you can see Jenny holding the lyrics on a sheet will be replaced and possibly re-shot, as well as Hannah may be getting filmed again with more confidence and focus on the camera, instead of looking everywhere but the camera a majority of the time.

I like the idea of using different people to sing different parts of the song, even if they are of a different gender to the person singing the song. I think it has a nice effect, and can also prove and give the feeling of unity between the singers, this relating back to how the song is about finding people just like you, and finding a place where they belong. I think the use of different locations is also effective.

Before and After

Taking the previous draft of the front of the DigiPak, I have altered the type for the band name using Photoshop. By doing this, I selected the layer which the type is placed on before choosing to use the free transform control. This bringing up the allocated stretch points which allow to you morph the chosen shape, in this case I stretched the two bottom corners down to merge lower down onto the album cover, as well as stretching the middle upwards, giving the font a curved and loose effect. This matching a more pop punk style, as well as filling up more space on the album cover, making it more interesting to look at.

The four images above are different colour variations of the draft of the front cover for my DigiPak, the first one is the natural version with the altered type, before a monotone version, a version with a light turquoise fade around the edge, and another with a light purple fade around the edge. I chose to experiment with the colours turquoise and purple, due to them often being used in either light and soft colours, or vibrant colours when it comes to other pop punk band albums, and also a lot of the time featuring on the merchandise for the band too.

Album Cover (draft)

This is one of the first drafts for my Ancillary texts, on the 6 panel digipak. I used two normal photographs before cropping and adding different effects, which left certain parts of the facial features. Adding a black background made the red more vibrant, as well as giving the album cover a more nightmarish effect. After adding a splatter effect and merging it in with the two faces, it has a nice effect which can represent two halves of a heart - relating back to how the artist of the song wants people to respect him, and stop treating him differently, searching for his other half to make him feel whole. From there I added the font for the band name and the song name, which I then used the 'bevel and emboss' effect to make the font look more three dimensional, as well as making it stand out from the basic black background.

What I'd change:
When it comes to improving the album cover, I would soften down the edges of the people, and change the opacity of the splatter to make it more obviously. These changes will most likely be made when it comes to more drafts of the album cover concepts.
